- TactlyThanks for calling Brightline Plumbing, this is the front desk. How can I help?
- CallerHi, my water heater is leaking. Can someone come out this week?
- TactlyI'm sorry to hear that. I have Thursday at 9 or Friday at 1. Which works better?
- CallerThursday at 9, please.
- Booked: Thursday 9:00 AM
- TactlyYou're booked for Thursday at 9. We'll see you then.
What it does on a call
A front desk that never puts anyone on hold.
Pick a job and watch how Tactly handles it.
Appointment booking
The caller asks for a time. Tactly puts it on your calendar.
Nobody wants to leave a message and wait for a callback just to get a time. Tactly looks at your calendar, offers what is open, and books it before the call ends.
- It asks the way your front desk would. What do they need, and when suits them? Tactly asks in plain language and listens for a day or a time of day.
- It offers only real openings. Times come from your calendar at the moment of the call. A slot someone else took ten minutes ago is not offered.
- It confirms after the calendar does. The caller hears they are booked only once the calendar says yes. If the time has just gone, Tactly offers the next one.
- TactlyHi, you've reached Juniper Grooming. I'm the virtual assistant and this call may be recorded. What can I do for you?
- CallerI need a bath and nail trim for my beagle. Anything Saturday?
- Looking up open times for Saturday
- TactlySaturday I have 9:00 in the morning or 1:30 in the afternoon. Which is better?
- CallerNine, please. It's Priya.
Call transfer
Some calls need you. Tactly knows when to hand them over.
Tactly takes the routine questions off your plate. When a caller asks for a person during your hours, it puts them straight through to you.
- You pick one number. Your cell, the shop line, the office manager. Set it in your settings and change it whenever you like.
- Transfers follow your hours. By default Tactly only puts calls through while you are open, read in your own time zone, so nobody is rung at 11 at night.
- Routine questions stay with Tactly. Hours, directions, services and the prices you chose to share are answered from your notes. You only pick up the calls that need you.
- TactlyThanks for calling Copperline Signs. This is the virtual assistant, and this call may be recorded. How can I help?
- CallerHi, it's Marcus. I'm picking up a banner today and need to change the date on it.
- TactlyThat sounds like one for the team. Would you like me to connect you now?
- CallerYes please.
- TactlyConnecting you to the shop now, Marcus. One moment.
After-hours answering
You closed at five. Your phone did not have to.
The calls that come in at 7pm on a Sunday are often the ones that want you most. Tactly picks up, says the team is away, and helps them anyway.
- Your day stays yours. Pick the after-hours mode and your phone rings as normal while you are open. Tactly only steps in once you close.
- Honest from the first line. The greeting says the team is away and that this is a virtual assistant, so the caller knows exactly what they are getting.
- Closed days count. Mark a holiday or a Sunday as closed and Tactly treats the whole day as after hours.
- TactlyYou've reached Fernwood Pool Care. The team is out for the evening, and I'm the virtual assistant. This call may be recorded. How can I help?
- CallerOur pool went green over the weekend. Can someone come look this week?
- Looking up open times this week
- TactlyI can book a service visit Tuesday at 10:00 or Wednesday at 2:00. Would either work?
- CallerTuesday. My name's Dana Whitfield.
Call summaries
Every call, written down and waiting in your inbox.
Voicemails get skipped and sticky notes get lost. Tactly sends you a short, readable account of each call, with the whole conversation underneath.
- The outcome comes first. Booked, transferred or message taken. You can tell at a glance whether a call needs anything from you.
- Numbers are read back. When a caller leaves a number, Tactly repeats it to them before the call ends, so the one in your email is the right one.
- The whole conversation is there. If the summary is not enough, scroll down. The transcript has every line, in order.
- TactlyGood afternoon, Alder and Finch Tailoring. I'm the virtual assistant and this call may be recorded. How can I help?
- CallerHi, this is Omar. I dropped off a suit for hemming. Is it ready?
- TactlyI can't check orders, but I'll pass this to the team right away. What's the best number for you?
- Caller555 0142.
- TactlyThat's 555 0142. Got it, Omar. Someone will call you back.

Compare
How Tactly stacks up.
Tactly vs an answering service
A live answering service puts a person on your line. Tactly puts a voice assistant there. Both answer the phone. They are good at different things.
See the comparison →Tactly vs voicemail
Voicemail records a message and waits. Tactly has a conversation, answers the question and books the time. For some businesses voicemail is plenty.
See the comparison →Tactly vs hiring a receptionist
A good receptionist greets people, solves problems and keeps the office running. Tactly only answers the phone. Sometimes that is exactly the gap you have.

Questions, answered
What is Tactly?
Tactly is an AI receptionist for small businesses. It answers your phone, talks to callers in natural English, books appointments into your calendar, transfers urgent calls to you during your hours, and emails you a transcript and summary of every call.
How much does it cost?
Three plans: Starter at $49 a month with 100 AI-answered minutes, Pro at $99 with 250 minutes, and Growth at $199 with 600 minutes. Every feature is on every plan. Extra minutes are billed per minute, and calls under 15 seconds are never billed.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You can take a new local number from Tactly, or keep your existing number and forward to Tactly the calls you do not pick up. Your customers keep dialing the number they already have.
What happens with a call it cannot handle?
During your hours it can transfer the caller to the number you choose. Outside your hours it takes a clear message with the caller's name, number and reason, and that lands in your inbox with the summary. It never invents an answer: if something is not in your notes, it says so and takes a message.
Can I hear it before I pay for real calls?
Yes. Test calls from your own phone are free, so you can ring it as often as you like while you tune the notes, and switch it on only when it sounds right.
Is there a contract?
No. Plans are month to month and you can cancel from your dashboard at any time.
Stop sending callers to voicemail.
Set up your receptionist, make a free test call from your own phone, and switch it on when it sounds right.
